Construction of Gallatin County Middle School Begins

WARSAW, KY—Construction of the new Gallatin County Upper Elementary and Middle School began on Monday with a special ground-breaking ceremony. School officials and the building’s designers, RossTarrant Architects, were among the onlookers who celebrated as D. W. Wilburn Construction officially broke ground on the project.

The Gallatin County Schools are building their newest facility on the property behind the existing middle school and upper elementary. The new, two-story building will effectively contain two schools in one. The upper elementary school for grades four and five will be contained in one end of the building. The other end will be for middle school students in grades six through eight. Each of the two schools will have their own principals and administrative staff.

The cafeteria, gymnasium and media center spaces will be located in the center of the building to enable them to be shared by all grades. In addition, these spaces will be accessible independently of the classroom areas of the building. This will enable them to be opened for community and extracurricular events while the classroom wings remain secure.
