Construction of Gallatin County Middle School Begins (continued)

Outside the new school, landscaping, a playground and an outdoor classroom will be added. The separate entrances for each school will be marked by canopies. As part of the project, the bus circulation for the entire campus will be rerouted not only to meet the needs of the new facility, but to improve circulation for the existing high school and lower elementary school as well. The new circulation patterns will separate bus traffic from that of parents or visitors to help prevent overcrowding.

“It was a delight to work with the committee members and all who participated in the design process because everyone worked so cohesively as a team,” said Ron Murrell, principal of RossTarrant Architects “The collaborative participation of everyone involved has helped us design a facility that will not only meet the needs of the Board of Education, but those of the entire community as well.”

Construction of the new building, which will be approximately 97,600 square feet, is expected to be completed in November 2007. All existing schools will remain in service throughout the process of building the new facility. The Gallatin County Schools plan to open the new Gallatin County Upper Elementary and Middle School in January 2008.
