Simpson County Schools Master Plan

Simpson County Schools Master Plan

The Simpson County Master Plan strives to incorporate the existing elements of this large campus—including a high school, middle school, elementary school, vocational school, School Board office and athletic facilities—into a coherent whole. Vehicular traffic was reorganized to the periphery of the site, while the interior areas were redeveloped to provide pedestrian walking, gathering and teaching spaces, improving the function and aesthetic of the entire campus. The new circulation patterns plus extensive exterior courtyard development achieves a true campus feel and organization that enhances the learning environment throughout.

The master plan was developed to enable the district to implement changes to the campus through a series of seven phases. The earliest phases have been implemented in conjunction with simultaneous renovation and addition work at all three schools on campus. Later phases include plans for a new fine arts facility and competitive-level gymnasium. Eventually, all sports fields will be renovated as well. A final component of the master plan involves the realignment of a city roadway to provide a more recognizable and extensive entryway to the campus and an improved connection to the community.
