Expecting continued growth, Western Kentucky University (WKU) commissioned a master plan to identify the potential development of three facilities on what is informally identified as the WKU South Campus. Meetings were conducted with all users to discuss and identify needs which should be addressed by future development, whether by new construction or renovation.
The first facility, Bowling Green Community College (BGCC), currently has an enrollment of approximately 2,300 students, 500 of which are WKU students. Additional space for both current and future programs is expected to be provided in the form of additions to the existing facility and possible renovations of the existing adjacent space.
The second facility is the Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO), also known as the Carroll Knicely Institute for Economic Development and Conference Center. Additional space for DELO is expected to be provided by renovating existing adjacent space. The space is currently occupied by the Materials Characterization Laboratory, which would then be relocated.
The final facility is the proposed Transportation Facility—a new, stand-alone facility to be located on the South Campus that will serve as a central service and storage facility for transportation requirements.
