Western Kentucky University Owensboro Campus Master Plan

Western Kentucky University Owensboro Campus Master Plan

With the goal of bringing a four-year public college to residents of Daviess County and the surrounding region, Daviess County Fiscal Court collaborated with Western Kentucky University to develop a new satellite campus in Owensboro. The County purchased a 27-acre site on which WKU could locate the new campus, and RossTarrant Architects began work on a Campus Master Plan.

The Master Plan was designed to accommodate the immediate construction of one main administrative and classroom building, as well as four future buildings on the site. The campus was designed around a central greenspace, which will serve as a pedestrian core and provide ample space for informal gathering. A picturesque trail system was designed to circulate through the site and encourage public use of the new campus.

Parking and vehicular circulation was designed to occupy the periphery of the campus. Parking was designed to be developed in phases as future buildings are constructed.
