The Rowan County Board of Education wanted to create a small, intimate performing arts theatre for stage productions and drama education at Rowan County High School.

The new Caudill Little Theatre was designed to accommodate multiple uses. The facility has 400 seats, with no seat more than 75 feet from the stage to ensure optimal viewing of the performances. Acoustical considerations were also important, as the drama department presents with unamplified voices. The facility includes an adjustable stage proscenium, fixed and moveable stage curtains, adjustable lighting and a sound system. The facility was also designed with an attached learning lab.

This addition also created a dramatic new main entry to Rowan County High School. The two-story lobby outside the theatre now serves as the main lobby for the school.
