Big Sandy Community & Technical College Health Education Building

Big Sandy Community & Technical College Health Education Building

The Student Services and Health Education Building at Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Prestonsburg, Kentucky was designed to fit within the existing campus master plan and to provide needed student service and academic spaces.

Phase 1 was designed for student services, including spaces for a career resource program, kitchen and dining facilities, lounge areas, student organization offices and a bookstore. Phase 2 was designed to provide additional spaces for student services as well as spaces for health education and the administration. Student services received additional space for the career resource program, the book store, dining, and student activities offices. Health education received program space for physical therapy and clinical technician education. The administration received spaces for the offices of the Dean of Students, Admissions, and Financial Aid.

A future phase will provide spaces including childcare facilities, a student health clinic and a wellness center featuring a large gym, fitness classrooms with strength and conditioning equipment, aerobics classrooms, a walking track, locker rooms, a snack bar and lounge, and associated support spaces.
