The Gallatin County Board of Education embarked on an extensive renovation and addition project at the District’s Lower Elementary School. The school, which serves preschool through second graders, had become outdated and overcrowded.
All of the existing facility was fully renovated, providing fresh finishes, floors, ceilings and fixtures throughout. In addition, a total of 13,000 square feet were added to the building. A new reception area was created, including a new administrative suite and secure entry point for visitors. The media center and cafeteria were both completely renovated and expanded to ease crowding. As a result, the school now features enough common space to enable growth from its current population of approximately 400 students to its projected future size of 600.
A new head start suite was added, featuring a shared, central break-out space for teachers to provide one-on-one care to students as needed. Two resource rooms, an art classroom and special education classroom were also included in the addition.
