Grayson County Middle School was constructed on the site of the existing middle school—one that would remain in use throughout the project. Early programming determined that the existing gymnasium, band room and three relatively new classrooms would be incorporated into the new school. The remainder of the facility was demolished and replaced with new construction.
The main two story classroom addition was placed in front of the existing school to allow students to remain in the existing school during construction. At the completion of this phase, students were moved into the new classroom wing and the existing building was then demolished to make way for another classroom wing, the media center and the administrative area. Additional funding enabled the next phase to commence, providing an auditorium for the facility.
