Bowling Green Junior High School

Bowling Green Junior High School

The Bowling Green Independent School district decided to relocate the existing junior high school from an outdated building in downtown Bowling Green to a new location just outside of town. The new state-of-the-art facility symbolizes the dedication of the school board to quality education for the community.

The design emphasis of the new school was to create a dynamic main street corridor that ties together the various programs of the school. The school has three separate wings that house the sixth, seventh and eighth grade family groups, each located along one side of the corridor. Directly across the corridor are the active shared spaces of the school, including the media center, cafeteria, gymnasium and music department. The facility also includes a 750-seat auditorium with orchestra pit and support areas to serve both the school and the community.

The building design was so successful that enrollment at the school increased before the first foundation block was laid.
