When Morehead State University sought to relocate its growing nursing, imaging science and physician assistant programs, Saint Claire Medical Center, a regional health provider with a campus less than one mile from Morehead State University’s campus, offered to provide the University with the space it needed. To expand its primary care clinic and education programs, the Medical Center arranged to collaborate with MSU on a new building that would accommodate the space needs of both entities. With the goal of providing integrated healthcare education, clinical services and patient education, the facility will also include space for the University of Kentucky, enabling the collaboration of all three entities to develop and implement an interdisciplinary and interprofessional educational model.
Saint Claire Regional Medical Center’s Primary Care Clinic will feature state-of-the art exam rooms, provider offices, outpatient pharmacy, waiting area, and outpatient radiology. It will also offer classroom spaces, a library/media center, auditorium and prefunction space, and conference rooms.
Morehead State University will gain the space it needs to expand its nursing, imaging sciences and physician assistant programs. Its portion of the facility will offer laboratory, classroom and office spaces as well as seminar rooms to accommodate large classes.
Finally, the University of Kentucky will receive administrative space for its Health Professions as well as facilities for the College of Medicine’s Family Medicine Residency Program.
