Morehead State University Wellness Center

Morehead State University Wellness Center

To Morehead State University, the addition of a Wellness Center to their campus represents a greatly needed educational opportunity for students, staff and faculty. This facility provides more than just an area for physical activity. The facility serves the entire campus as a learning laboratory for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of health, physical education, recreation and exercise science. The assessment areas and instructional rooms allow the students to be involved in actual physical assessment and program prescriptions. In addition to physical activity, trained faculty and staff address areas such as nutrition, diet, stress reduction, smoking and substance abuse.

The facility was constructed in two separate phases. Phase I included a circuit weight training room, physical assessment room, seminar rooms and administrative offices. Phase II included three indoor tennis courts, aerobics training room, instructional classrooms and expanded locker facilities.

The new offerings allow students at Morehead State University the educational opportunity for physical testing and assessments, individual wellness prescriptions, and the utilization of various types of assessment and developmental equipment. In addition, it enables the university to research the health condition of residents of Eastern Kentucky. The facility, equipment and the programs provide participants with an excellent opportunity to be involved in a comprehensive wellness center.
