Elizabethtown Community & Technical College Postsecondary Education Center

Elizabethtown Community & Technical College Postsecondary Education Center

Jointly operated by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and Western Kentucky University, the Postsecondary Education Center was designed to further the opportunities for postsecondary education in the region through expanded certificate, diploma, associate, baccalaureate and graduate degree programs.

The project consisted of a 48,000-square foot addition and 23,280 square foot renovation of an existing facility on the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Campus. The facility features state-of-the-art technology labs—including computers, fluid power, air conditioning, electricity, electronics and customized industry. It also includes “smart” classrooms, distance learning classrooms, a testing and assessment center, administration offices and a campus bookstore.

The new facility was designed to serve as a symbolic bridge between the original community college campus on the west and the technical college campus on the east. The design team incorporated features of exterior buildings from both campuses in the new facility, further strengthening the unity of the campus.
